Panel summary: Following the success of their breakout horror hits, Longlegs and The Monkey, Neon brings three upcoming cinematic shockers to Comic-Con for exclusive looks with the filmmakers and talent behind them. Writer/director Michael Shanks and stars/producers Dave Franco and Alison Brie bring their 100% Rotten Tomatoes-rated Sundance and SXSW sensation Together; author and critic Chris Stuckmann reveals the hidden secrets of his terrifying debut Shelby Oaks; and horror master Osgood Perkins (Longlegs) descends into darkness with his jaw-dropping new trip, Keeper.
With the schedule fully out, and festivities about to begin we began lining up the panels we want to visit, and find ways to speak to the creatives. One panel that stood out is Neon's slot on Friday. If you're not familiar with Neon than you have work to do! They are responsible for a number of hits including Longlegs, The Monkey, Mandy, Cuckoo, Parasite and the Neon Demon. The studio has ushered itself into the top echelon of horror studios, sharing the stage with A24 and Blumhouse.
Joining the Next Wave of Horror panel on July 25 are Osgood Perkins (Longlegs, The Monkey) and Tatiana Maslany for the mysterious upcoming Keeper, Together’s writer/director Michael Shanks, stars/producers Dave Franco and Alison Brie, and Shelby Oaks’ debut feature filmmaker, Chris Stuckmann. The panel will also give fans a sneak peek at exclusive footage from all three of these upcoming films.
In addition to the panel, collectors might want to head over to the Unbox Industries booth between 12:00pm and 1:30pm PT on July 25, where Perkins will be autographing NEON’s The Monkey collector figurine There's also an exclusive new limited edition version of the sinister simian, dubbed “The Bloody Variant,” that is only available to purchase from NEON’s online shop and picked up during Comic-Con.
